Job summary
The post holder will work as an advanced-level healthcare science practitioner within the field of Echocardiography, independently and accurately performing and interpreting complex cardiac ultrasound scans, for elective, urgent, and emergency patients ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.

The post holder will lead on service improvement, contribute to research and development, and provide specialist training and supervision to junior colleagues. This role requires a high degree of autonomy, clinical expertise, and decision-making responsibilities to ensure the highest standards of patient care

Main duties of the job

• Independently perform and report echocardiograms to BSE standard
• Plan and prioritise workload to support the effective delivery of echocardiographic services
• Actively participate in service improvement and development projects
• Provide advice training and support for trainees and junior members of the team
• Help deliver and maintain services on a day to day basis supporting or in the absence of the clinical lead

Working in a dynamic and fast paced environment you will engage well with others in small and larger multidisciplinary teams. Development of individuals and services is encouraged and supported, as the post holder you will also support others in their developmental journey. Qualifications
Essential

• Degree in clinical physiology/healthcare science with additional training & knowledge to masters degree level e.g. BSE accreditation.

Desirable

• Evidence of teaching i.e. Delivery of in-house training to students, workplace colleagues.
• Mentoring qualification
• HCPC registration as a clinical scientist

Experience
Essential

• Significant proven independent Echocardiography experience including autonomous reporting
• Experience of audit and data reporting

Additional Criteria
Desirable

• Ability to work under own initiative, without direct supervision, and to manage own workload and that of others where appropriate
• Ability to oversee junior members of staff and guide training as appropriate
