Job summary
If you are a motivated Pharmacy Technician looking to contribute to innovative primary care services and improve outcomes for patients across Cross Counties PCN, we would love to hear from you.

Working on-site across our member practices one day per week, the Pharmacy Technician will support the safe, effective and efficient use of medicines. The post holder will work closely with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, nursing teams and administrative staff to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care and support practice medicines management processes.

Main duties of the job
  • Complete medication queries, medicines reconciliation, and repeat prescription processes.
  • Undertake CQC safety searches and coordinate medication recalls as required.
  • Liaise with patients regarding medication queries, usage, side effects, and adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Support the safe and cost-effective use of medicines in line with current formularies, national guidance, and local policies.
  • Monitor prescribing patterns and support audits relating to medicines optimisation, patient safety, and quality improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, Clinical Pharmacists, Practice Nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to improve prescribing efficiency and patient outcomes.
  • Support the management and optimisation of repeat prescription systems and processes.
  • Educate and empower patients on self-care, medication use, and treatment adherence.
  • Lead and manage designated areas of the Medicines Optimisation Framework to support PCN and practice objectives.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
  • Contribute to medicines management projects and initiatives across South Leicestershire Medical Group and Billesdon Surgery.

We are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our multidisciplinary team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Pharmacy Technician seeking a flexible role within primary care, supporting medicines optimisation and improving patient outcomes across our practices.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
  • Experience of working within a Pharmacy Environment

Desirable
  • Previous experience working in General Practice, Primary Care or a PCN setting.
  • Experience supporting medicines optimisation activities.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Knowledge & Skills
Essential
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
  • Competent IT skills and experience using clinical systems.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of NHS primary care services and prescribing processes.
