Start Your Career in Radiotherapy and Make a Difference to People Affected by Cancer
Are you passionate about science, technology and delivering exceptional patient care? Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer whilst earning a salary and gaining a professional qualification?

University Hospitals Tees is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our Radiotherapy Service as an Apprentice Therapeutic Radiographer.

This innovative apprenticeship allows you to earn while you learn, combining paid employment with university study and hands-on clinical experience within one of the largest and most advanced radiotherapy services in the North East.

Working within the Radiotherapy Department at The James Cook University Hospital, you will develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a registered Therapeutic Radiographer whilst helping to deliver high-quality, compassionate and patient-centred cancer care.

Main duties of the job
Most apprenticeship programmes in the UK are government-funded. To qualify for this funding, you must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years before starting the apprenticeship. This means living in the UK for most of the past three years without significant absences. Please note this post will close at sufficient applicants. The post holder will undertake the Therapeutic Radiographer Level 6 Apprenticeship Standard with UWE Bristol. This is the UWE Bristol Therapeutic Radiographer Degree Apprenticeship, a Level 6 programme that combines workplace learning with university study, leading to the award of a BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography degree.

Successful completion of the programme provides eligibility to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Therapeutic Radiographer.

Programme Details
  • Qualification: BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography.
  • Duration: Approximately 3 years to 3 years and 2 months.
  • Study Format: Blended learning combining workplace learning, protected study time and mandatory university attendance.
  • University Partner: University of the West of England (UWE Bristol).
  • Study Commitment: Approximately four days per week in clinical practice with protected study time and mandatory block study weeks at UWE Bristol's Glenside Campus.

Travel to and attendance at mandatory university teaching sessions and study blocks is an essential requirement of the apprenticeship programme.
