Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen with the medical photography department. We are seeking a compassionate, motivated individual with a degree in medical photography or a degree in photography plus relevant clinical experience. In addition, the successful candidate will be registered/eligible (or qualified to a registered level) with the Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI) and/or Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS).
This is a 12 month fixed term contract for maternity cover, based at The James Cook University Hospital. Cross site working is also required at One-Life (in rotational periods) With the expectation to work across multi-sites to primarily support the skin clinics and wider UHT group Medical Photogrpahy service.
Shortlisted candidates should bring a portfolio of photography work for their interview.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will provide medical photography, and video, in the photography studio and across outpatient/inpatient environments within The James Cook University Hospital and additional sites as required. The successful candidate will join our team consisting of 2 clinical photographers, an imaging support worker, and a MIMS administrator. A thorough understanding of the medical photography department and experience with image databases and editing software is essential.
The post may involve dealing with difficult and distraught clients, emotional stress, deathand various pathologies.The post holder can be exposed to a range of clinical conditions including surgical procedures, specimens, deep and infected wounds, infectiousconditions and conditions of unknown pathology.Conditions encountered may be distressing to visual, olfactory or auditory senses.

Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Evidence of working in a photographic studio environment.
Desirable- Experience of working in a Medical Photography Department.
QualificationsEssential- BA (hons) undergraduate degree in Photography or equivalent
Desirable- PG Certificate in Clinical Photography (or equivalent)
KnowledgeEssential- An understanding of medical photography practice in a wide range of environments.
- Knowledge and experience of using image editing software. (e.g. Adobe Photoshop).
- Understanding of consent and issues with confidentiality.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst prioritising workload to meet deadlines.
Desirable- Experience of video and video editing software.
- Experience working with image databases
