Job summary
South Warwickshire University NSH Foundation Trust are looking for a Consultant Anaesthetist to join a large team providing Obstetric, Emergency & Elective lists as well as specialised services for Preoperative Assessment.

Main duties of the job
In association with all Consultant Anaesthetists, the successful candidate will carry shared responsibility for the organisation and operation of all aspects of clinical and supporting work of the anaesthetic department.

The post is offered on the basis of 10 programmed activities (PA).

DCC activity will be timetabled theatre based sessions with flexible specialty content agreed with the successful candidate.

On call Duties and scheduled emergency work at weekends are expected.

The successful candidate will share responsibility for continuing clinical cover with Consultant colleagues.

Job responsibilities
The Department conducts a business meeting on the afternoon of the first Friday of each month open to all permanent anaesthetic staff _,_ preceded by an Educational Supervisors meeting. All senior doctors in substantive posts are members of the Medical Staff Committee which meets every two months.

Anaesthetists run the ICU, obstetric anaesthetic and epidural service, chronic pain clinic and acute pain service. An ICU Outreach team operates 24/7. There is a Clinical Nurse Manager for ICU and Theatres Services (Ian Purcell) and Clinical Nurse Specialist for Acute Pain (Mel Muston).

Qualifications
Essential

• Full registration with GMC
• Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within six months of anticipated Certificate of Completion of Training date on day of interview or equivalent

Desirable

• ALS / EPALS / APLS
• Postgraduate qualification or fellowship in Perioperative Medicine
