Main duties of the job
This post sits within Cardiology department which sits within the Emergency Division.

The unit is led by six Cardiology Consultants.

Cardiology has a dedicated 9 bedded Coronary Care Unit and dedicated 20 bedded Malins ward located at Warwick Hospital. Malins ward consists of three 6 bedded bays and one double side room. Our Coronary Care Unit consists of 4 beds and 2 pods in the main bay, one single side room and one double side room that provides level 2 specialty care for our cardiology patients. The senior team is supportive of all doctors in achieving their career goals.

Job responsibilities
The principal elements of the post will be to:

• To support mainly the in-patient services in Cardiology wards (Malins and CCU) as directed by senior team. Whilst on duty, the post holder has clinical and professional responsibility for their patients. It is also the duty of the post holder to:
• Keep patients (and/or their carers as appropriate) informed about their condition.
• Involve patients and/or their carers if appropriate in decision making about their treatment.
• Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out by the General Medical Council and comply in particular with the GMCs guidance on Good Medical Practice
• The post holder will be responsible for carrying out any work related to and reasonably incidental to the duties set out in their Job Plan such as:
• The keeping of records and the provision of reports
• The proper delegation of tasks
• Maintaining skills and knowledge

Research, Education, Audit and Continuing Professional Development

• To take responsibility for continuing professional education in accordance with guidelines set out by the appropriate college/faculty/professional body.
• To initiate and participate in research and audit programmes in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
• To work in collaboration with colleagues in developing skills to provide new ways of working across different professions, organisations i.e. community/primary care.

Clinical Governance

• In conjunction with Consultant colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.

General elements:

• To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
• To be able to work flexibly, and cross cover for colleagues.
• To observe the Trusts agreed policies and procedures
• To take responsibility for your own health and safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.
• To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately.

• Registered with the General Medical Council
• Clinical experience - at least 6/12 months UK experience. (House Officer/F1 acceptable
