My Name is Kate Iddon, I am the Specialist Psychotherapist for the Kirklees NHS Talking Therapies Service. We are a friendly and supportive service, where our staff are valued and contribute to service development.

I am excited to welcome applications for a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (SPWP) to work across Kirklees within the Kirklees NHS Talking Therapies Team.

This is an ideal opportunity for qualified PWPs looking to broaden their experience working in primary care.

As an applicant you must have completed a Talking Therapies approved PWP training course and have experience of working in mental health services. Additionally, you will hold an NHS Talking Therapies supervision qualification or be willing to work towards this.

As a Senior Psychological Wellbeing practitioner you will provide Case management and Clinical Supervision to both qualified and trainee PWPs with the direction of our Specialist Psychotherapist and Service Manager.

You will also be expected to hold a reduced clinical caseload. We offer our assessments and treatment sessions via Face to Face, Telephone, Microsoft Teams, and group work.

Main duties of the job
Team Background
Our team provides NICE compliant psychotherapy incorporating CBT, Counselling and Guided Self Help to clients in primary care across Kirklees. This is an 8-8 service Monday to Friday, and we offer sessions either by Microsoft Teams, telephone or face to face.

We hold clinics both in Trust premises and in primary care settings across the area to ensure that were, as much as possible, nearby for the people that use the service.

We treat clients with common mental health problems such as depression or anxiety and consistently achieve our recovery target of 50%, for me thats important because it means were making a difference to peoples lives.

As a Senior Phycological Wellbeing practitioner your main duties will be providing clinical and case management supervision to both qualified and trainee PWPs.

Main Duties
As a service we encourage our SPWPs to be involved in various projects, service promotion and service development.

We offer our assessments and treatment sessions via Face to Face, Telephone, Microsoft Teams, and group work.

We understand that supervision, CPD and training are essential to your work as a PWP, and as such we are committed to supporting you to develop your skills and practise by offering supervision in line with the NHS Talking Therapies manual and we offer a CPD programme thought the year.

Job responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY
This is a new role which aims to offer a career progression for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners.

The post-holder will work within the NHS Talking Therapies service providing high volume low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self management interventions to support clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

The post holder will provide Case Management Supervision for Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner trainees under the direction of the Senior High Intensity Workers.

KEY RESULT AREAS:
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CLINICAL

• To offer rapid screening and assessment, informed by knowledge of the spectrum of mental health needs and risk factors.
• Provide assessment and low intensity interventions eg psycho-educational interventions, Guided Self Help, cCBT to patients registered with Barnsley GP practices/health centres, drawing from CBT theories and techniques
• Work with colleagues in secondary mental health and other services locally to ensure the swift/appropriate transfer of patients between services.
• Provide Case Management supervision to Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Trainees.
• Offer training to Primary Care staff in CBT based interventions.
• Support GPs and other primary care workers in making appropriate referrals and in carrying out the mental health aspects of their own roles.
• Provide a service that is comprehensive and accessible to a broad range of patients who have commonplace mental health problems and fulfil the criteria for the service.
• Make appropriate referrals to other service providers in the statutory and voluntary sectors and redirect patients to other sources of appropriate support within the local community as required.
• Liaise as appropriate with secondary care mental health services and social service departments.
• Provide a service that is flexible as far as possible in terms of service hours.
• Take responsibility for managing computerized CBT, ensuring appropriate use and provision, including monitoring of alerts.
• Take a mentor role with trainee or inexperienced Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners
• Be involved in the training and development of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Trainees
• To provide a service that is, as far as realistically possible, equitable and non-discriminatory in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and disability.
• Develop knowledge of the localitys services and facilities, particularly in relation to mental health issues.
• Undertake appropriate Case Management supervision on a regular basis in accordance with the relevant professional guidelines and policies
• Maintain appropriate clinical records in keeping with service operational policy
• Participate in audits of clinical activity and evaluative research as required.
• Maintain outcome data as per service operational policy
• Participate in setting and review of objectives for the post on an annual basis
• Attend professional meetings as appropriate.
• Make a significant contribution towards training and educational developments. To raise awareness for primary care colleagues (health visitors, GPs, etc) of CBT interventions.

Qualifications
Essential

• A related degree eg Psychology or a related Diploma eg counselling with substantial experience of using this qualification.
• Registration with the BABCP/BPS.
• IAPT Low Intensity Worker/ Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification (Post Graduate Diploma).
• A qualification in the IAPT LI Case Management Supervision or evidence of commitment to achieve this.

Experience
Essential

• Ability to demonstrate a range of demonstrable post-qualifying experiences in offering and delivering the range of evidence-based IAPT low intensity interventions such as computerised CBT and guided self-help and group psychoeducation to high volumes of people.
• Consolidated and reflective supervised post-qualifying experience, preferably in NHS or Social Services setting.
• Significant experience of working with people with common mental health problems.
• Experience of working within the IAPT culture.
• Experience of working with clients who self-harm.
• Experience of working with suicidal clients and of risk management.
• Experience of delivering PWP groups to large numbers of people.
• Experience of undertaking assessments and follow-up work with people over the telephone.
• Substantial experience of IAPT LI Case Management supervision
• Ability to manage own time effectively and efficiently, using agile working principles.
• Experience of providing evidence-based practice/clinical governance.
• Experience of undertaking suicide risk assessments.
• Experience of working in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.

Desirable
