Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated physiotherapist to be part of our dynamic Pelvic Health team. This exciting role offers you the opportunity to gain experience and further your skills within pelvic health.

Main duties of the job
The post will give you the opportunity to provide outstanding clinical care to women (both perinatal and not related to pregnancy) with pelvic floor muscle dysfunction including urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. You will have the opportunity to be exposed to more clinically complex conditions also. You will also assess and manage pregnancy related MSK conditions and assist in covering our postnatal ward service. Education and training are key elements of the department. You will assist on evidence based care and supporting staff development.

About us
Our current services include managing musculoskeletal obstetric and female and male pelvic floor dysfunction outpatient clinics across our three sites: St George's (Tooting), St John's Therapy Centre (Clapham) and Queen Mary's Hospital (Roehampton). Also included is a daily post-natal ward service and perinatal exercise classes. The Pelvic Health team collaborate closely with colleagues of specialist clinics including OASI, sexual health, urology, colorectal, and regional networks.

The Pelvic health team consists of two 0.5WTE Band 8a, 2 WTE Band 7, 1.5 WTE Band 6. The team offers a friendly and supportive environment with weekly in-service training, collaborative clinics and supervision, enabling each team member to flourish and deliver excellent, evidence based, patient centred care. After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.

Job responsibilities

• Independently manage clinical caseload of patients with pelvic floor dysfunction including urinary and faecal incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, pregnancy related MSK symptoms including PGP
• Joint cover of the daily post natal ward service
• Service Development
• Be involved in quality improvement projects enhancing patient experience and journey
• Clinical education-assist MDT and team training
• Assisting in operational duties if cover is required due to sickness or annual leave

Person Specification
Education/Qualifications
Essential

• Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy
• HCPC registration
• Evidence of CPD in Musculoskeletal/Pelvic Health in the form of a detailed personal portfolio

Desirable

• Relevant special interest group membership (POGP)
• Post-registration courses in Pelvic Health field

Experience
Essential

• NHS experience
• Experience of treating pregnancy related musculoskeletal pain
• Experience of treating patients with continence symptoms
• Experience of teaching patient education classes
• Experience of quality improvement projects and audit
• Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession
• Experience of using computers and their applications

Desirable

• Previous experience at Band 6
• Experience of teaching in in-service teaching
• Experience of supervising juniors and students

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to formulate a sound prognosis using good clinical reasoning skills
• Knowledge of management of female pelvic floor dysfunction including urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse

• Remains updated with relevant professional practice and new research/ research papers
