  • Coordinate deliveries and collections with internal teams, suppliers and external carriers to meet service needs and timescales.
  • Lead, train and develop warehouse staff and volunteers, ensuring safe working practices and a positive team culture.
  • Implement and maintain stock rotation, quality checks and disposal procedures to minimise waste and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain processes and documentation for warehouse workflows, including reporting on key performance indicators and contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with procurement, retail and clinical teams to forecast demand, manage stock levels and support special projects or events.
  • Ensure the warehouse and vehicle fleet are maintained, secure and compliant with relevant legislation and hospice policies.
  • Maintain high standards of communication with colleagues, volunteers and external stakeholders, providing clear and timely information.

Person specification
  • Proven experience managing warehouse and logistics operations, including stock control and people management.
  • Confident user of inventory and Microsoft Office applications, with experience of electronic record systems.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and compassionate approach when liaising with internal teams and external partners.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, manual handling and COSHH requirements relevant to warehouse operations.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and develop staff and volunteers, promoting a culture of respect and teamwork.
  • Flexible approach to working hours to meet operational needs, including occasional early starts or later finishes.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection (GDPR) requirements.
