Job SummaryThe Children and Young People's (CYPS) Directorate in Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Practitioner Psychologist to lead psychology services in North East Hampshire Community Team. You will be joining a well-established multi-disciplinary children's mental health team based in Aldershot. The role is part-time (22.5 hours).
This is a newly-established role. Working closely with the service manager, you will lead on psychology services in the community team, ensuring high standards of quality and productivity. You will work alongside the CYPS psychology leads to develop psychology services for children and young people across Surrey.
The post-holder will have expert knowledge of mental health challenges facing children and young people and additional training or qualifications in psychological interventions, e.g. training in EMDR or BABCP accreditation. They will have substantial experience working in children's mental health services. They will have experience of adapting interventions to work with neurodiverse children. They will be committed to inclusive and accessible services. Knowledge and skills in supervision and outcome measures is essential.
The successful candidates will hold a Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology and be eligible for registration with the HCPC.
Main duties of the job- To plan and deliver a highly specialist psychology service in the NEH CYPS Community Team and to oversee its clinical governance.
- To be responsible for the professional leadership and continued development of psychologists and CBT Therapists within the MDT.
- To demonstrate highly specialist expertise and specialist psychological skills such as specialist psychological assessments, formulation, therapeutic interventions and consultation to support children and young people with complex needs.
- To lead in the supervision and contribute to Individual Performance Review/Appraisal of psychology staff, as required.
- To ensure that the healthcare needs of people using services are communicated to and work in partnership with service commissioners and other healthcare providers for the best outcomes.
- To be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies, protocols and care pathways
- Contribute to appropriate staff recruitment and contribute to the wider strategic plans regarding psychology recruitment.
- To act as supervisor/teacher in teaching, facilitating and supporting pre-registration students and junior personnel and to participate in the audit of educational placements.
- To influence and develop team cultures that support and encourage innovation, creativity, partnership working and curiosity.
