Job summary
We are looking to recruit a youth counsellor to our short-term counselling service for young people aged 12-24. The service works across the West Surrey and North East Hampshire area, covering 4 CCG's. The successful candidates will develop and provide a counselling service for young people aged 12-24 in GP practices, schools, colleges and other youth settings.

Main duties of the job
To develop and provide a counselling service for young people aged 12-24 in GP practices, schools, colleges and other youth settings.This includes:o Working as a specialist Counsellor with a vulnerable client group, with a clinical responsibility for their welfare.o Giving specialist advice across 4 CCG's and other organisations.o Contributing to strategy development regarding young people and mental health.o Clinical responsibility for managing a client case load.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • Degree or equivalent academic ability
  • Recognised qualification in counselling to diploma level
  • BACP Accreditation (or achievable within six months from appointment)

Experience
Essential
  • At least 2 years' experience of working with young people in a youth setting
  • Experience of counselling Young people
  • Understanding of child protection policy and procedures.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of the importance of mental health issues clinically, practically and ethically in relation to counselling young people
  • Specialist knowledge and understanding of a wide range of therapeutic approaches
