Job summaryWe're looking for an experienced BABCP-accredited CAMHS CBT Therapist to take up a secondment opportunity as a Band 8A Senior CBT Therapist until 30/3/2027.
This is open to Band 7 CBT therapists with strong CAMHS experience, who have supervision experience, and have either completed or are enrolled in supervision training.
You should have a strong background in working therapeutically with children, young people and families, and demonstrable experience of providing supervision within CAMHS or CYP services. In addition to supervision, would be desirable for candidates to have some experience of teaching, training and leadership.
Main duties of the jobThis role is essential in supporting quicker access to CBT for the many young people who are awaiting treatment. SPFT is recruiting to a number of fixed term Band 7 CBT Therapist contracts, and this senior role will support in providing supervision to these colleagues, and others, across our three teams. As such, some travel between sites may be required.
While holding a small clinical caseload, you will also contribute to our CBT leadership team across the wider Sussex CAMHS service, regarding innovative ways of developing our CBT offer. The role holder will also participate in the overall governance requirements of SPFT CAMHS.

If the successful candidate has not yet completed the Post-graduate Certificate in CBT Supervision in CYP Services, then they would be expected to complete this. This is a funded course, with one day of teaching per month at Kings College London.
Person Specification- Qualifications
- Essential: Recognised accredited post graduate level training in a psychological therapy as specified in the Appendix
- Essential: Professionally registered as specified in the appendix
- Knowledge & Experience
- Essential: Substantial post-qualification/accreditation experience of specialist psychological therapy (assessment, formulation and treatment), as specified in the Appendix, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
- Essential: A high level of competence in applying a psychological therapy to complex difficulties appropriate for this therapy with the client group served by the post, and a proven track record of delivering positive outcomes in this therapy
- Essential: Experience of specialist psychological therapy assessment and treatment of clients across a range of care settings and client groups
