This role offers a unique opportunity to combine clinical expertise with digital innovation, helping ensure that healthcare technology is developed, implemented and maintained safely for patients and healthcare professionals.

Working alongside experienced clinical safety specialists, you will undertake a structured programme of training and mentoring to develop your expertise as a Clinical Safety Officer. You will act as a vital link between clinical practice, product development and patient safety, supporting the safe design and delivery of healthcare solutions used across health and care settings.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead and manage clinical risk assessments for assigned products
  • Support the investigation, prioritisation and resolution of clinical safety incidents
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and corrective action planning
  • Act as the clinical safety lead for designated projects
  • Maintain and update Clinical Safety Files and related documentation
  • Ensure products and services comply with applicable clinical safety standards and regulations
  • Support the clinical safety and regulatory activities associated with Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) including CEPs, CERs and post-market surveillance
  • Collaborate with clinicians, product teams and technical colleagues to support safe system development
  • Promote awareness of clinical safety best practice across the organisation
  • Support audits, safety reporting and governance activities
  • Participate in the on-call rota, providing clinical safety advice when required
  • Contribute to patient safety assessments, hazard logs and safety cases

What we're looking for
  • Registered healthcare professional with a minimum of five years' clinical experience within NHS or private healthcare settings
  • Understanding of DCB0129 and DCB0160 Clinical Safety Standards and the regulatory requirements applicable to Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)
  • Completion of, or willingness to undertake, an accredited Clinical Safety Officer course
  • Experience within NHS informatics or digital healthcare environments
  • Familiarity with healthcare technology systems and clinical workflows
  • Understanding of project management principles and system development lifecycles
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions
  • Commitment to improving patient safety through technology

Why join System C?
At System C, you'll be part of an organisation focused on improving outcomes through technology. You'll work in a collaborative and supportive environment where continuous improvement, ownership, integrity and teamwork are highly valued. You'll also have access to professional development opportunities, wellbeing support and recognition programmes that celebrate success and contribution.

Apply today
If you're passionate about patient safety, digital healthcare and making a meaningful impact through technology, we'd love to hear from you.

At System C, we believe great work happens when flexibility and collaboration come together. All our roles are offered on a hybrid basis, with colleagues spending a minimum of two days each week in the office to connect, create, and grow together. (Excludes associate and field-based roles).

We prioritise transparency in our job requirements and selection criteria, ensuring they are based solely on the essentials needed for effective job performance. We consciously avoid assumptions that could skew our perception of a candidate's suitability for hire.

Our recruitment practices are designed to ensure that no applicant is unfairly disadvantaged by procedures or requirements that disproportionately affect protected groups without being essential for the job.

For every position, we develop a detailed job description and person specification. This approach maintains our focus on the true demands of the role and the skills, experience, and qualifications necessary. During interviews, we involve multiple interviewers where possible to further mitigate unintentional bias, thereby promoting a fair and equitable hiring process.
