Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Harrogate Crisis and Intensive Home Treatment Team for a competent, confident and enthusiastic Clinical Specialist. The successful applicant will be expected to work Monday - Friday 08.00-16.00hrs or 08.30 - 16.30hrs.

The successful candidate will be expected to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and provide clinical leadership within the Harrogate Crisis and Intensive Home Treatment Team, working alongside the wider leadership team and utilising skills to support colleagues.

The team works collaboratively with internal and external partners to support the needs of individuals in an acute mental health crisis and offer support to their family /carers to support to prevent hospital admission. The team are friendly, professional, and innovative. They have a common interest in living the trust values. Coproduction and collaboration are key drivers of the team's work ethic.

Strong team working is essential, requiring networking with a variety of people, as well as working in partnership with a range of different agencies both internal and external to the team.

Main duties of the job
The successful postholder will lead on professional development and ensure the delivery of robust evidence based practice.

You will ensure high professional standards of nursing practice in accordance with the NMC code of Conduct.

You will provide evidence based treatment planning.

In addition to this, the postholder will undertake ongoing audit of care and service delivery, underpinned by research and evidence-based practice.

You will support the team manager and other senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework.

You will participate in clinical/professional and management supervision, contribute to multi-disciplinary team working, abide by all Trust policies and procedures, and be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
  • Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor
  • Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision
  • AND have Professional clinical knowledge and experience acquired through degree (or equivalent post registration study), supplemented by specialist training, experience, short courses, Module (20 credit) at level 7 see below For example Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters Degree, Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Postgraduate diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber), Psychosocial Interventions,
  • And Equivalent significant clinical experience such as working (minimum of 2 years) as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area, together with evidence of relevant CPD to Level 7 or equivalent

Knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
  • Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
  • Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
  • Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
  • Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)

Experience
  • Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field
  • Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
  • Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
  • Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice
  • Working collaboratively with service users their families and carers
  • Working in a multi disciplinary team
  • Quality improvement activities
