Job summaryThe CAMHS directorate in North Yorkshire and York locality of TEWV is comprised of the two York Community CAMHS teams based at Lime Trees, the Selby team based at Selby Cabin, the Harrogate Team based at Dragon Parade, the Scarborough Team based at Lake House and the Northallerton Team based at North Moor House with a peripheral clinic in Colburn.
This post will provide input into Northallerton part of the North Yorkshire and York service. Specifically, this service is commissioned by the Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
It has a Single Point of Access service staffed by an experienced staff team who triage and provide a telephone consultation service to families and referrers. The SPA responds to all referrals and help young people and their families with the process of navigating through the options to find a service that meets their needs. The service works with a model of brief intervention to empower young people and their families in achieving good mental health and well-being. Staff job plans are designed to deliver services described in the TEWV Clinical Pathways, in order to provide high quality evidence-based care.
This post arises from a consultant retiring and a SAS doctor moving posts.
Main duties of the jobThe Consultant will have responsibility- together with the other Consultant in the team- for the provision of psychiatric services to children and young people living in the Northallerton area. A provisional job plan is set out in section 18
This provision will include:
- Clinics at North Moor House and Colburn. The post holder will be allocated a proportion of secondary schools and their feeder primary schools. The aim of this is to enable the development of close working relationships with education staff and Primary care staff in a particular area.
- Liaison with Paediatricians based at the Friarage and James Cook University Hospitals and other nearby hospitals as and when appropriate.
- Advice, consultation and supervision to the team.
- Involvement in more complex cases using a co-working model, often in partnership with other agencies.

QualificationsEssential- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
- Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or within 6 months of gaining CCT
- Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment
Desirable- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
- MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Included on the GMC Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
