Job summaryThe Senior Care Support Worker will:
- Be an integral member of the ward/department team working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered practitioner.
- Be responsible for providing care to patients as delegated by the registered practitioner following the completion of specific competencies.
- Contribute to the maintenance of care environment and quality initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Ensure that their practice adheres to policies, procedures and competencies.
- Act in a manner that upholds privacy, dignity, respect and confidentiality of patients and colleagues.
- This post will also include a 6-12 month rotation to Ridge Hill community-based rehab unit.
Main duties of the jobThe Senior Care Support Worker will together with members of the Nursing team and contribute to the implementation of a high standard and individualised patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.
The post holder will be required to communicate effectively with other members of the health care team, patients and relatives and must be able to recognise and report to the appropriate person any changes in the patient's condition which may require the intervention of others.
The post holder will be assessed on appointment on their level of competence and required as part of the Trusts training and development programme for care support workers to undertake a structured pathway of development to include basic skills and in house development programme.

- English & Maths A - C, 9 - 4 or Functional Skills Level 2

- Venepuncture
ExperienceEssential- Previous experience of caring for people in a care worker role within a hospital, the community or a residential nursing home setting
- Experience of close working with members of the multidisciplinary team
Desirable- Previous NHS Acute Medical experience
Communication and Relationship SkillsEssential- Effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Computer literate
