The non-clinical responsibilities include supporting the trust in terms of its contractual obligations to its commissioners and in achieving the trust targets. The post-holder will be bound by the conditions in their contract and also the GMC’s expectations as set out in “Good Medical Practice.”

In addition, the post holder will be expected to evolve to encompass managerial, educational or other extended roles dependent on the specific interests of the appointee.

The successful applicants will be expected to participate actively in the diagnosis, management and follow-up of patients. The post also involves on-call out of hours duties.

We have a dedicated Oral & Maxillofacial surgery department where the majority of activities will be carried out. Support will be provided by a mix of dental and general nursing staff in addition to the departmental DCT’s and F2.

The post holder will be expected to attend and contribute to the department’s clinical meetings, audits and clinical governance.

The post-holder will be expected to work with colleagues and our management team to ensure the service is delivered in line with best practice.

There will be opportunities and encouragement will be offered to support the successful applicant to develop areas of interest in clinical and non-clinical areas including post-graduate education.

The post-holder will:
  • Work with colleagues to provide a service with the highest standard of care.
  • Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients and A&E.
  • Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services, and primary care.
  • Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team
  • Be an active member of the audit programme.

This job description may be subject to change according to the varying needs of the service. Such changes will be made after discussion between the post holder and the manager. All duties must be carried out under supervision or within Trust policy and procedure.
