Job overview
An opportunity has arisen to join the specialist nursing and midwifery team within the acute Gynaecology service at PAHT. The role will support delivery of care to service users referred to the Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy outpatient clinics including those referred under the Faster Diagnostic Standard (cancer pathway). The post holder will work closely with our ANP and medical colleagues and the wider Trust to esnure service users receive timely, compassionte and person centered care.

There is a requirement for the postholder to support the early pregnancy service on occasion. All services are delivered Monday to Friday only at present there is no weekend or out of hours work.

The post is offered on a full time basis, and is fixed term to cover maternity leave therefore would suit an internal candidate looking to develop their skills and knowledge within Gynaecology nursing.

Main duties of the job

• Deliver hands on patient care to service users referred to the acute Gynaecology service
• Support the ANP and medical teams in conducting outpatient surgical procedures
• To participate in the failsafe programme for Colposcopy results and ensure compliance with national standards
• Liaise with relevant professionals across the Trust to facilitate appropriate and timely care
• Review, record and discuss results with patients and their ongoing treatement plan
• Provide support to students and clinicians receiving training within the unit
• Ensure completion of documentation and discharge summaries for GPs is conducted in a timely manner
• Participate in quarterly team meetings
• Contribute to service improvement inititatives
• Ensure patients receive the information and advice required according to their tretament and diagnosis and to make an informed decision about their ongoing care
• Ensure care is at all times compassionate and sensitive and takes into account of individual patient needs and preferences
• Particpate in specialist clinics as required
• Ensure adherence to Trust policies and protocols
