Main duties of the job
The postholder will:
  • Provide accessible specialist advice and support to staff regarding adult safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

  • Promote Think Family, professional curiosity and compassionate persistence throughout clinical practice.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider safeguarding team and relevant multi-agency partners.
  • Contribute to safeguarding data and intelligence provided to clinical divisions to inform clinical practice and management decision-making.
  • Contribute to Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Multi-Agency Reviews, serious incidents and Domestic Homicide Reviews, including the preparation of chronologies where required.
  • Act as a professional role model and support the development of less experienced and newly appointed staff.
  • Contribute to safeguarding education, learning, service development and improvement activity.
  • Support effective partnership working and information sharing to protect adults at risk and improve safeguarding outcomes.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust (PAHT) is proud to care for the communities of West Essex, delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality services. We are part of the Neighbourhood Wave—a national programme that’s changing how care is delivered by focusing on prevention, early support, and more joined-up services across health, social care, and the voluntary sector.

This means we’re working more closely with local partners to bring care closer to home and support people to live healthier, more independent lives.

We’re a supportive and inclusive organisation that values its people. We offer development opportunities, flexible working, and a strong focus on wellbeing. As a Disability Confident and equal opportunities employer, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences.

Join us and help shape the future of care in West Essex.

What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced registered professional with a genuine interest in safeguarding adults, strong communication skills and the confidence to support colleagues with complex and sensitive situations.

The successful candidate should demonstrate sound knowledge of adult safeguarding principles, Mental Capacity and multi-agency working, alongside the ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively both independently and as part of the wider safeguarding team.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is approachable, professionally curious, person-centred and passionate about improving outcomes for adults at risk of abuse or neglect.
