Two full time (37.5 hours ) Band 7 (pending Afc Job matching) Speech and Language Therapists- 3 year Fixed term post.

Are you an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for inclusion, early intervention and supporting schools to meet children and young peoples needs?We are looking for a skilled and motivated Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our innovative Experts at Hand project. This is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in shaping how mainstream schools access specialist advice and support for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).The aim of this role is to bring specialists into schools, early years and post-16 education settings, so children can receive help earlier. This will largely be a consultative role with little or no direct face to face working with individual children. We will consider applications from people who would like to do this role part time - please indicate on your application how many days you would be considering.The post holder will need to be flexible and work to emerging workstreams as the project progresses to address identified needs.We are looking for a confident and reflective practitioner who can combine specialist clinical knowledge with strong communication, leadership and partnership-working skills.

Main duties of the job
As the Speech and Language Therapy lead within Experts at Hand, you will act as a subject specialist, providing leadership, advice and practical support to schools and education settings. You will work as part of a multi-agency team of specialists to help schools develop inclusive, evidence-based approaches that can be embedded into everyday classroom practice.The role will focus on coaching, modelling, shared problem solving and early support, helping school staff feel more confident in identifying and responding to needs without always waiting for external assessment. You will also support stronger links between schools, the Local Authority, health services, parent carers and the core Speech and Language Therapy service.

Qualifications
Essential

• Speech and Language Therapy degree

Desirable

• RCSLT member
• Masters or equivalent in a relevant subject

Knowledge
Essential

• Highly developed knowledge of evidence based practice around communication difficulties and SEND
• Working knowledge of NHS policies and national agendas around SEND and education
• Highly developed knowledge and experience of how to develop new pathways and service development
• Knowledge in using a range of informal or screening Speech and Language assessments that schools practitioners could use
• Knowledge of a broad range of speech language and communication needs and first step interventions schools could use

Registration
Essential

• HCPC registered

Experience
Essential

• Experience working with children speech language and communication difficulties
• Experience working in a variety of community settings, including schools
• Experience providing training to other practitioners
• Experience of delivering training to other professionals
• Experience in engaging practitioners in being the agent of change for children
