The Three Spires Medical Practice has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the team on a part-time basis. We are a friendly, forward-looking practice who values the work-life balance we are able to provide allowing us to enjoy the beautiful coast and countryside of Cornwall.

We are seeking a motivated, innovative and experienced Physiotherapist, registered with HCPC, with proven clinical and leadership skills, excellent communication skills, in an autonomous position, to join our professional and friendly team.

This is a patient-facing role and involves using evidence-based principles/ current best practice, skills and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, treat, evaluate and onward refer patients.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities:

• Assess patients received through self-referral or internal clinical referrals, develop care programmes and provide first line treatment options
• Provide support on MSK clinical and service development across the PCN, work with the secondary and community care & MSK services
• Develop skills relating to independent prescribing, injection therapy and investigation to make professional judgements and decisions in unpredictable situations, reducing the need for pharmacological interventions, etc.

You will be HCPC registered, with a degree in Physiotherapy, qualifications & practical experience of working at Level 6 capability in MSK, possess excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt in order to respond to the challenging demands of primary care.

The Three Spires Medical Practice operates from Truro Health Park and together our dedicated team of GPs and staff care for around 18,000 patients. We are a learning practice, hosting GP trainees and Medical Students from the Peninsula School of Primary Care and the University of Exeter Medical School.

Job responsibilities
Post Overview
The post holder is responsible for providing musculoskeletal Physiotherapy for the practices patients including Neck and Low Back Pain physiotherapy for patients using the Any Qualified Provider (AQP) process. The post holder will provide a high standard of care and physiotherapy service to patients with diverse and sometimes complex conditions and will be responsible for highly specialised physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and advice to an independent caseload.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the physiotherapy team to meet the needs of patients, support the delivery of policy and procedures and further develop the delivery of services.

The postholder will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Key responsibilities

• To assess patients, design and implement appropriate treatment regimes for patients in accordance with clinical guidelines and professional codes of conduct as defined by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
• Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with all patients.
• To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with the CSP standards of practice.
• To perform highly specialised comprehensive physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations, complex physical and psychological conditions and multi-pathologies using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. This may include interpretation and analysis of clinical and non-clinical information and investigations.
• Formulate and deliver high specialised individual treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options e.g. manual physiotherapy techniques, patient education, exercise classes and other alternative options.
• Formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans, liaising with GPs, consultants and more senior colleagues as appropriate.
• Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes if required.

• A minimum of two years post qualification experience
• HCPC Registration
