Job summary
The Associate Director of Medical Education for Quality (ADMEQ) will provide a key leadership role in ensuring the monitoring, assurance and continuous improvement of quality across postgraduate medical and dental training posts and programmes at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will work within Medical Education, in close collaboration with the Director of Medical Education, Medical Education Manager and wider Medical Education Leadership Team. This role will act as a key point of contact and source of specialist advice regarding medical education quality, supporting departments to evidence, maintain and improve the quality of training across the Trust.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a key contact and will liaise with medical leaders, College Tutors, Training Programme Directors, Foundation Programme Directors, Educational and Clinical Supervisors and service leads across the Trust to monitor the quality of training programmes, posts and placements. Where required, the post holder will support teams in developing and monitoring action plans to address areas of concern, provide assurance on the ongoing quality of medical education and training, and promote high-quality postgraduate medical education across the Trust. The post holder will also play a key leadership role within the Medical Education Leadership Team and support the Trust's preparation for internal and external quality review processes.

Person Specification
Essential

• Senior medical practitioner (Consultant, GP or other senior permanent grade doctor)
• Clinically active and full registration with the GMC
• Primary medical or dental qualification and licence to practise
• Has a substantive contract with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust
• Interest in Medical Education
• Experience as a Supervisor or Tutor supervising resident doctors or medical students
• Commitment to continuing professional development
• Working knowledge of NHS and GMC rules and regulations as they relate to training and the junior doctor contract
• Working knowledge of the trust, regional and national services available to support resident doctors
• Working knowledge of quality management, quality assurance and quality improvement approaches within medical education and training
• Knowledge of national processes for quality assuring postgraduate medical education and training, and their local implementation
• At least three years' experience as a consultant, GP or other senior grade doctor
• Knowledge of a range of approaches for enhancing learning in the clinical environment
• Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation skills
• Excellent team working skills and ability to manage and lead a team
• Demonstrable strategic leadership and management skills
• Ability to co-operate/negotiate with other healthcare professionals and educationalists to develop multi-professional education
