Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group are looking to recruit a Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in heart failure. Are you looking to make a lasting impact on cardiac care? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team in a brand-new post dedicated to further developing the Heart Failure Service in Lincolnshire. This role offers a unique blend of clinical leadership, advanced diagnostics, and community-integrated care.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract based at Lincoln County Hospital. We are open to doctors who are looking for more of a longer term contract.

This role includes participating in the trust-wide, non-interventional cardiology on-call rota on a 1:8 frequency.

Main duties of the job
Pan-Trust cardiology at ULHT provides comprehensive cardiac services for the county for a population of around 750,000. This includes both a busy 24/7 PPCI and PCI service and a well-established Cardiac MRI service. The successful candidate would join 7 Interventional Cardiology, 8 non-interventional Cardiology colleagues, an Associate Specialist, Staff Cardiologist and 3 Nurse Consultants in Cardiology across the Trust. There is a nurse-led in-patient heart failure service on both the Lincoln and Pilgrim hospital sites and good links to the community heart failure team.

The Complex Device service at ULHT started in October 2018 and we have performed over 150 implants in the last 12 months with one device consultant. The purpose of this post is to support this rapidly expanding service.

Qualifications
Essential

• MRCP (UK) or equivalent
• Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice

Desirable

• MD or PhD

Clinical Experience
Essential

• Wide experience in general Cardiology and acute assessment environment, in particular the management of patients with heart failure / accreditation
• Substantial experience of working in clinical cardiology in a UK setting

Desirable

• Additional subspecialty interest in Cardiac Imaging
• Interest / Experience in Inherited Cardiac Conditions

Management & Administrative
Essential

• Ability to manage and lead junior medical staff
• Evidence of working effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to initiate and lead service developments.
• Willingness to be involved in departmental management
• Evidence of initiating, progressing and completing audit
• Direct and extensive working knowledge of the UK National Health Service

Desirable

• Completed basic training in management skills

Audit
Essential

• Commitment to an understanding of the principles of audit.
• Experience in organisation and undertaking audit.

• Publication of audit and service improvement projects, locally and nationally.
