Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner within the Surgery Team at Pilgrim Hospital. Consideration will also be given to applicants interested in a Band 3-4 developmental role.

With strong MDT working and close collaboration with our community colleagues, we work together to maintain patient flow and ensure a smooth transition between hospital and community settings.

This role is ideal for someone with experience as a Therapy Assistant and the required qualifications to commence at Band 4.

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner, you will manage a varied clinical and ward-based caseload within an acute multidisciplinary environment. You will take a lead role in discharge planning and undertake access visits in the community.

The post-holder will be required to work Bank Holidays and weekends as part of a rota.

The base for this role will be Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, with an expectation to travel to and work at least one other site--most likely Lincoln County Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The role requires the successful candidate to work as part of a team to manage a designated workload (within a scope of practice), maintain appropriate records, accept accountability and responsibility for their own actions. The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, with close supervision/support from a qualified team member, and as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.

There will be opportunities to engage in service developments and training and the post holder will assist with the supporting and skill development of Occupational Therapy staff including assistants, apprentices and students.

Support the Respiratory Team and work alongside Physiotherapists and other health care professionals.

To evaluate patient's progress and use own judgement to make amendments to the treatment programme within their scope of practice.

To undertake administrative and some house-keeping duties to support the Therapy service.

To work closely with MDT with treatment and safe discharge planning in a high - pressure environment.

Assessment and treatment that includes patients with a wide variety of conditions across Respiratory within a competency framework.

Qualifications
Essential

• 2 A level's or equivalent Level 3 qualification in a subject relevant to the post
• GCSE English and Maths - Grade 4-9 or equivalent
• Relevant Level 5 qualification (Diploma level) or equivalent e.g. Foundation degree, HNC. Or agreement to work towards

Desirable

• ECDL or equivalent
• Other related Healthcare qualifications

Previous Experience
Essential

• Experience as a therapy assistant or senior health care support worker or equivalent in hospital or community
• Experience of collecting/recording information on paper and computer systems
• Experience of using good service user relations and effective communication skills including face to face, telephone and written

Desirable

• Experience of working as a therapy assistant practitioner
• Experience of working under pressure
• Experience of leading and developing group work
