Children’s Diabetes DietitianJob summaryAre you a dynamic, enthusiastic and confident paediatric dietitian with an interest in diabetes care?
We are looking for a Children's Diabetes Dietitian to join our Children and Young People's Diabetes Service at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to cover 12 months maternity leave.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a friendly, supportive and highly motivated multidisciplinary team, providing specialist dietetic assessment, treatment, education and support for children and young people with diabetes, their families and carers. The role will include inpatient care, multidisciplinary outpatient clinics, dietetic-led clinics, community working and close collaboration with nursing, medical, psychology and wider allied health professional colleagues.
Main duties of the job- Provide specialist dietetic education and support for children and young people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes from diagnosis through to transition to adult services.
- Support children, young people, families, carers and school staff to develop confidence in diabetes self-management.
- Provide education and advice on diabetes technology, including insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitoring and hybrid closed loop systems where appropriate.
- Contribute to service development, audit, research, quality improvement and national programmes including the National Paediatric Diabetes Audit.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to meet Paediatric Diabetes Best Practice Tariff criteria and deliver high-quality, person-centred care.

You will be an HCPC-registered dietitian with a recognised degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, or equivalent qualification, and post-registration clinical experience including experience in a specialist area of dietetics. You will bring excellent communication, organisational and teaching skills, the ability to work autonomously and as part of an MDT, and a commitment to continuous professional development, clinical governance and inclusive care. Experience in paediatric diabetes, diabetes technology, service development, audit or research would be advantageous. Above all, you will be motivated to improve outcomes for children and young people with diabetes and to support families with kindness, clarity and expertise.

Person SpecificationKnowledge & QualificationsEssential- Four-year degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
- HCPC registered
Desirable- Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) or equivalent association
- Post registration training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy/Motivational Interviewing
- Post graduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. paediatric diabetes modules e.g. MSc Paediatric Diabetes modules
ExperienceEssential- Post registration clinical experience
- This must include experience in the specialist area of dietetics
Desirable- Involvement in relevant specialist interest group
Quality and service improvementEssential- Experience of service development
