Job summary
The successful postholder will be working in one of the largest IBD units in the country alongside a diverse team of specialists, including dietitians, clinical nurse specialists, GI surgeons, and mental health professionals, to provide holistic, patient-centred care. By maintaining procedural independence in diagnostic upper and lower GI endoscopy and actively driving clinical governance, research, and service improvement, the Fellow ensures the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centred care while advancing the department's diagnostic capabilities and academic standing.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to have broad experience of lower GI disorders

The post holder will deliver both specialist IBD and general gastroenterology clinics, relevant diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures and will run an intestinal ultrasound clinic.

The postholder will be expected to attend the weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, departmental clinical governance meetings, journal club and weekly seminars. The post holder will also be expected to participate in the department's audit and service development programmes.

The main duties of this post include:
  • Providing gastroenterological expertise inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Participate in audit, clinical governance, service development and annual appraisal.
  • Operate within the clinical governance and audit framework within the division.
  • To collaborate with the division to achieve all access to treatment waiting time targets

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
  • Part II MRCP or equivalent GCP training by time of appointment

Experience
Essential
  • Training in Gastroenterology
  • Clinical audit experience
  • Experience of and interest in teaching at undergraduate and post graduate levels

Desirable
  • Experience in management of complex IBD
  • Experience of clinical trials &/or research

Skills and Abilities
Essential
  • Independent in upper GI endoscopy
  • Ability to work with MDT
  • Clinical Audit experience
  • Commitment to delivering high quality clinical research

Desirable
  • Independent in colonoscopy
  • Previous experience with EPIC EHR
