Job summary
This is a North Central London (NCL) role, hosted by UCLH.The North Central London Medicines Optimisation Network (NCL MON) is a collaborative across NHS Provider organisations and the West and North London Integrated Care Board (WNL ICB). The NCL Joint Formulary Committee (JFC) is a principal committee within the network, which fulfils the Area Prescribing Committee function and cross-sector clinical governance for medicines.JFC is responsible for establishing whether new medicines, and new indications for existing medicines, represent a safe, equitable, evidence-based and cost-effective use of medicines. It also coordinates or facilitates the development of medicine pathways, guidelines and position statements to support medicines optimisation and reduce unwarranted variation.

Main duties of the job
To provide professional support to the NCL Joint Formulary Committee and Interface Prescribing Group, as well as develop, implement and maintain a sector wide medicines formulary, shared care guidelines, medicines pathways and position statements.

The NCL Integrated Pharmacy & Medicines Optimisation (IPMO) Programme Team (including Joint Formulary & Medicines Optimisation pharmacists) are hosted by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on behalf of NCL stakeholders. The offices are based at 250 Euston Road, London. Travel to other NCL sites may be required on occasion.

There is an opportunity to work remotely for part of the week.

The post is a full time maternity leave cover, on a 12 month fixed term or secondment basis.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential

• Registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
• Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
• Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or General Pharmacy Practice or equivalent experience
• Critical appraisal training and expertise
• National policy and commissioning awareness

Desirable

• Higher degree (PhD or research MSc)
• Advanced practitioner as defined by the Advanced and Consultant Level Framework (ACLF)
• Statistics, health economics or public health post-graduate qualification
• Management, leadership or Quality Improvement qualification or formal training

Experience
Essential

• Broad clinical pharmacy experience
• Substantial experience as a hospital pharmacy practitioner, CCG prescribing advisor or Practice/PCN pharmacist

Desirable

• Specialist clinical pharmacy expertise and experience
• Experience of providing technical and secretarial support to a Drugs and Therapeutics Committee or equivalent

Skills and Abilities
Essential

• Demonstrates ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
