The closing date is 15 November 2026

Job summary
Are you a Band 5 Occupational Therapist ready to take the next step into a Band 6 role, or an experienced Band 6 looking for a new challenge? If so, we would love to hear from you.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, dynamic, and continually evolving Therapy Team at Good Hope Hospital.

As part of both the Therapy Team and the wider Multidisciplinary Team, you will play a key role in supporting patients to return home as soon as possible through the provision of timely, effective, and person-centred therapy interventions. You will help maximise patients' independence and improve their ability to remain safely at home following discharge.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist with excellent team-working skills and knowledge across a broad range of occupational therapy assessments and interventions.

In return, we offer:
  • Opportunities to develop your clinical expertise and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
  • A personalised development plan tailored to your career aspirations and aligned with our Maximising Potential Framework.
  • Access to a wide range of wellbeing support services, both through the Trust and within the Therapy Department.
  • A friendly, supportive working environment where we are committed to the ongoing professional and career development of all staff.

If you are passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and developing your career within a supportive team, we look forward to welcoming you to Good Hope Hospital.

Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will provide specialist assessment, treatment, and management for patients across a variety of ward areas within the acute hospital setting.

Working predominantly across our Acute Medical/Health of Older People wards, you will deliver evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions to a diverse caseload, applying your clinical expertise and the Occupational Therapy process to support patients in achieving their goals. There will be a strong focus on facilitating timely discharges home or to alternative care pathways, while supporting patients' transition into community and outpatient services where appropriate.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who possesses excellent communication, organisational, and prioritisation skills, with experience of effective multidisciplinary team working. You will be able to work autonomously, undertaking all aspects of clinical practice and maintaining accurate and timely clinical records.

The role also provides opportunities to support the development of others through the supervision, education, and coordination of Therapy Support Workers and junior therapy staff.

As part of our commitment to delivering high-quality patient care, you will be expected to participate in our seven-day therapy service rota.
