Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Complementary Therapist to join our Community Palliative Care Team (CPCT). This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide holistic, person-centred complementary therapies to palliative care patients, their relatives and carers within their own homes across the community.

Working alongside specialist nurses, palliative medicine consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help improve quality of life by supporting the management of symptoms such as pain, anxiety, stress and sleep disturbance through complementary therapies.

Therapies may include Aromatherapy, Massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Relaxation and visualisation techniques and Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD).

Main duties of the job

• Deliver complementary therapy interventions tailored to the individual needs of patients, families and carers.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy programmes within a professional framework.
• Work collaboratively with specialist nursing, medical and community colleagues to provide holistic care.
• Prioritise referrals and manage your own caseload effectively.
• Support patients and their loved ones through what can often be challenging and emotional circumstances.
• Help develop and promote complementary therapies as an integral part of palliative care services.

• Recognised qualifications by the federation of holistic therapists.
• Possession of a valid/full drivers licence

Experience

• Experience in planning and implementing therapies to suit individuals.

• Experience in the health care setting.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team

Skills
Essential

• Ability to manage own workload, prioritising as necessary.
• Communication skills
• IT skills - use of electronic patient systems and MS Office
• Good interpersonal skills and an ability to maintain good relationships
