Description

Job summary
The successful candidate will be part of a cohesive team involving orthodontists, head and neck surgeons (OMF & ENT), nursing, admin and allied health professionals. The successful applicant will work within a hospital based orthodontic service providing care at all specialist levels.

Main duties of the job
To work closely with the orthodontic and multidisciplinary team to provide specialist orthodontic care direct to patients. This includes seeing new patients, overseeing treatment plans and supervising wider team members such as orthodontic therapists.

Job responsibilities
The successful application will provide consultant level specialist orthodontic treatment, undertaking all aspects of care required for this pathway.

Working within an outpatient based clinic setting the successful candidate will consultant patients, enact treatment plans and supervise wider clinical team activities.

The post will work across both Royal Derby Hospital and Queen's Hospital Burton sites.

Person Specification
Qualification
Essential
  • BDS or equivalent
  • Entry on GDC Specialist Register for Orthodontics
  • Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or equivalent or within 3 months of completion of FTTA training

Desirable
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Orthodontics

Eligibility
Essential
  • Full GDC Registration with a license to practice at time of application
  • Clinical training & experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK ISFE in Orthodontics
  • 6 months experience in a UK Health Care setting

Desirable
  • Minimum 5 years supervised training in an appropriate SpR/FTTA equivalent training programme

Clinical Governance/improving quality of patient care
Essential
  • Evidence of active participation in audit

Teaching and Research
Essential
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals

Desirable
  • Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
