Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen and we are seeking to appoint a Band 5 Registered Nurse to work alongside our current Cardiac Centre Team at Westmorland General Hospital. One 30 hours per week post is available as a 10 month fixed term contract.
A secondment will be considered with prior agreement from your current line manager.
The Morecambe Bay Cardiac Centre (MBCC) is a 7-bedded day case unit based at Westmorland General Hospital. We are a small, friendly team who provide diagnostic coronary angiography, permanent pacemaker implantation, dobutamine stress echocardiography and other diagnostic tests.
MBCC receives inpatient transfers from RLI and FGH for urgent PPM implantation and urgent diagnostic tests. We also provide specialised nurse-led services such as the DC cardioversion and Implantable Loop Recorder services.
The successful candidate will need to have relevant post registration cath lab or cardiology experience.
Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will assess, plan and deliver safe nursing care to patients who are undergoing a variety of cardiac procedures and investigations.
Desirable skills will include Advanced Life Support / Immediate Life Support. IV cannulation, IV medication administration and ECG interpretation skills are essential.
About usWe operatefrom three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, andUlverstonCommunity Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies,daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
