Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen, for an experienced band 7 or aspiring band 6 to develop a role as the lead dietitian in acute services at the Staffordshire children's hospital.

We are a large team of children's dietitians that sit within a large dietetic department. We are highly respected and integral part of the extensive MDT, with specialities including CF, gastro, neonates, diabetes. Our community HEF and GP speciality dietitians also sit within the team. We are also supported by a sizeable admin team, a dietetic assistant and nutrition nurse.

You will have the opportunity to develop dietetic care to PICU, HDU and the wards, alongside provision of leadership to the supporting band 6. You will have input in regular team meetings, band 7 meetings and plenty of opportunities for CPD.

The specialist intensive care unit is part of Staffordshire Children's Hospital at Royal Stoke works closely with Birmingham Children's Hospital to ensure that the best care is available to critically ill children in the area. The children cared for can have all range of support and require understanding of renal replacement, gut dysmotility, ARDS, diabetes insipidus, acute liver injury, and the acute versus recovery phase in nutritional management. As children can be cared for from out of area, good liaison and communication with the local dietitian and teams is required.
Main duties of the job
You could have the opportunity to become a prescribing dietitian as well as developing skills in the provision of TPN, as training can be provided. You will have input in regular team and band 7 meetings. The department actively promotes and facilitates CPD. We encourage and promote development of leadership skills through an in-house leadership program. We are a large and dynamic team of Children's dietitians that sit within a large dietetic department.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Registered dietitian (with relevant BSc, postgraduate diploma or masters)
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Knowledge and Skills
Essential
  • Demonstrate relevant work experience in paediatric dietetics within the NHS.
  • Experience as a senior practitioner in specialist paediatric dietetics in an acute setting.
  • Experience in supervision of staff developing in paediatric dietetics

Desirable
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and care co-ordination

Personal Qualities
Essential
  • Demonstrate an ability to work within and contribute to a team including developing and maintaining effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders
  • Willingness to support pre-registration practice training for student dietitians
