Job summary
University Hospital of North Midlands (UHNM) is looking to recruit Associate Chief Medical Officer for SAS and LED Education for both RSUH & County Hospital to be responsible for ensuring that excellent education and training is delivered throughout UHNM for our LED and SAS doctors working closely with the aCMO for PMDE.This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who has an enthusiasm for education.

You will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief People Officer, and aCMO PMDE to deliver our education standards, enable UHNM to meet Our Strategy 2025-2035, and develop a centre of education excellence that embraces innovation and change.

Main duties of the job
You will act as the key link between the Regional Postgraduate Dean and the Trust on educational matters regarding LED and SAS doctors. This role is crucial in ensuring that the educational essentials are in place for all doctors. You must have an interest and enthusiasm for improving the delivery of Medical Education and continuing professional development. Good leadership skills and the ability to manage change are essential.

Administrative support will be provided by the Postgraduate education teams at both RSUH & County Hospital.

Job responsibilities
The appointment will initially be for 3 years, subject to annual appraisal and review.

The post will attract 3PAs. These agreed PAs must be explicit in the job plan for the appointee.

Person Specification
Essential
  • Good understanding of EWTD and New Deal for Doctors
  • Understanding of the Educational Governance Structures of the Trust and NHSE(WTE)
  • Ability to manage change

Desirable
  • A Consultant/SAS who currently holds a minimum of 5 sessions of programmed activities within the Trust
  • Understanding of funding streams for education
  • Understanding of issues facing LED and SAS doctors
