The role of the Emergency General Surgery Lead (EGSL) is to support the Clinical Director (CD) and the delivery of the Emergency General Surgery clinical strategy.
Within this remit the EGSL will have their own portfolio of responsibility to be defined with the CD and Senior Management Team (SMT) upon appointment. The EGSL will provide leadership alongside the CD and help to set strategic direction within the Service. Lead a clinical team consisting of Consultants, Nurses and other healthcare professionals within the specialism of EGS. o Provide leadership to all staff in the Specialty. o Ensure that high quality care of patients remains the highest priority. o Contribute strategically as a senior member of the Directorate management team. o Lead Clinical Governance within the Specialty, including leadership of NELA dataset.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- College membership or equivalent
- Full GMC, NMC or Equivalent Registration
ExperienceEssential- o Evidence of engagement in job planning, complaint handling, appraisal and revalidation
- Established clinical professional with a record of good clinical performance and outcomes
- Participation in Trust leadership programmes
Desirable- Evidence of supporting Trainees and junior staff
