Job summaryThis post is suitable for an individual with good general surgical and surgical oncology backgroundwho is aspiring for a career as a breast surgeon and wishes to gain experience in oncoplastic andreconstructive breast surgery including perforator flaps and implant-based reconstructions.Candidates should have good knowledge of management of breast disease. Candidate should bekeen to learn new techniques and be involved in research and audit. The post will comprise noemergency duties. It is mainly to cover elective sessions at UHNM. It is a ten-session job withresearch and audit commitments.The UHNM Breast Unit is a busy breast surgery unit in the West Midlands, UK and manages thespectrum of benign and malignant breast disorders in close collaboration with colleagues fromradiology, oncology, pathology and plastic surgery. Screening assessment cases are managed acrossNorth Staffordshire. The Unit sees 700 new breast cancers a year.
Main duties of the jobThis is a full time Senior Clinical Fellow post which will support the Breast team in providing acomprehensive specialist Breast and Breast Oncoplastic surgical service to the University Hospital ofNorth Midlands Hospital NHS Trust which caters to the population of Staffordshire, Wolverhampton,South Cheshire and Shropshire. No General surgery and no on calls involved in this job. The proposedtimetable outlined towards the end of this document will be flexible to accommodate training needs. Youwill be enrolled to Keele reconstruction course which runs twice a year and the successful candidatewould be in charge of oncoplastic MDT. Help maintaining oncoplastic data base and prepare MDTs and oncoplastic MDT.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Full GMC
- MRCS/FRCS or equivalent
Desirable- Higher degree ( Mch,MD, PhD) National training number FRCS Intercollegiate
AbilityEssential- Able to work in complex team and provide leadership Able to work flexibly
ExperienceEssential- Broad experience in elective breast and oncoplastic surgery
Desirable- Attended oncoplastic courses or currently doing MS oncoplastic surgery.
