An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated clinician to take on the role of SSCU Clinical Lead within the Surgical Special Care Unit (SSCU). Working closely with the Clinical Director, ITU Lead and Senior Management Team, the post holder will provide senior clinical leadership to support the safe, effective and timely delivery of patient care within the unit. The role will be pivotal in shaping and delivering the SSCU clinical strategy, overseeing the daily prioritisation of clinical activity, supporting service development and improvement, and ensuring robust clinical governance arrangements are in place. The SSCU Clinical Lead will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues across surgery, critical care and management, contribute to the education and development of SSCU nursing staff, and play a key role in informing the future direction and growth of the service to meet the evolving needs of patients and the organisation.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide clinical leadership for the Surgical Special Care Unit (SSCU).

  • Contribute to the future direction and sustainability of the SSCU service.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
  • College membership or equivalent
  • Full GMC, NMC or Equivalent Registration

Experience
Essential
  • o Evidence of engagement in job planning, complaint handling, appraisal and revalidation
  • Established clinical professional with a record of good clinical performance and outcomes
  • Participation in Trust leadership programmes

Desirable
  • Edidence of supporting Trainees and junior staff
