Job summary- To deputise in all respects during the absence of the Unit Manager
- Acts as a clinical expert within the post holder's particular care environment, and provides specialist clinical advice.
- To be responsible for meeting the NMC requirements in line with the Code of Professional Conduct for their scope of responsibility.
- Provides supervision and direction for nursing, clerical, support staff and learners.
- Responsible for co-ordinating and delivering effective quality nursing care following a patient centred model of practice and ensuring the unit runs smoothly and efficiently.

- Provides supervision and direction for nursing, clerical, support staff and learners.
- Responsible for co-ordinating and delivering effective quality nursing care following a patient centred model of practice and ensuring the unit runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Develops a well-motivated and well-educated workforce by identifying the learning needs of nursing, clerical and support staff and booking appropriate courses.
- Support individual nurses in their pursuit of excellence through education, training and lifelong learning.
- Responsible for ensuring resources are used effectively within the clinical environment.
- Review and co-ordinate booking requests to assess their suitability to be undertaken on the unit and ensure that the appropriate and correct advice is given to clerical & nursing staff and patients involved in this process.
- To provide leadership and act as role model for other staff members.
- Contributes to the management of risk, both clinical and financial.

Job responsibilities- Work clinically in all areas of unit to a high level including treatment rooms and all areas of the unit
- Be able to safely deputise when nursing manager not present including meetings and audits.
- Maintain a good working relationship with all members of the wider MDT.
- Be a good role model and educator for all junior staff.
- Promote unit ethos
- Educate and promote a positive working unit at all times.

Person Specificationknowledge and experienceEssential- Proven evidence of recent Continuing Professional development.
- Proven knowledge of patient administration system.
- Have relevant demonstrable experience/knowledge of GI or Endoscopy.
Desirable- Clinical skills relevant to area of practice
QualificationsEssential- NMC Registered Nurse.
- Diploma qualification in a healthcare related subject / or equivalent experience.
- Relevant post registration clinical course or equivalent experience
Desirable- Relevant Degree.
- Computer literate (ECDL).
- Mentorship Course.
Aptitude & AbilitiesEssential- Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
- Numerate
- Effective influencing skills: in general and with senior health care professionals.
