Job summary
We are recruiting a substantive Consultant Cellular Pathologist at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

You will work within supportive and experienced subspecialty teams in Gynaecological and Gastrointestinal Pathology to help deliver high quality, timely diagnostics.

You will also contribute to leadership, training, research, and our regional Sussex network collaboration.

Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post include the following:
  • Independent reporting of diagnostic cellular pathology case with a focus on Gynaecological and Gastrointestinal Pathology.
  • Participation in relevant Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings and provision of timely clinicopathological advice.
  • Clinical supervision of trainees and contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate education (including BSMS).
  • Participation in clinical governance, audit, EQA, quality improvement, service development and leadership.
  • Adherence to Trust policies including information governance, health and safety, safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion.

Job responsibilities
Substantive consultant post

Essential subspecialties: Gynaecological and Gastrointestinal Pathology.

Based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and work across UHSussex sites as required. Training-active department with BSMS teaching and supervision of histopathology trainees. No on-call. Full conditions and person specification in the JD.

Experience/Qualifications
Essential
  • Basic medical degree
  • FRCPath Part 2 or its recognised equivalent
  • Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. o If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in pathology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. o If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC

Clinical Skills and Experience

  • Reporting Cellular pathology cases
  • Reporting of frozen sections

  • NGS and therapeutic IHC solid tumour testing
