Fixed term Consultant Obstetrician and GynaecologistThe closing date is 20 July 2026Job summaryThe aim is to appoint a fixed term consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with a special interest in maternal medicine and preterm labour management to join the established team at University Hospitals Sussex. We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic colleague who will contribute to the development of the maternal medicine and pre-term labour services at the RSCH site.
This job has arisen as a result of maternity cover provision for the current post holder who also supports the bereavement services and has some gynaecology commitments including on call for acute gynaecology at RSCH.
Main duties of the jobProvide maternal medicine and pre-term labour care including skill to put in cervical sutures. Provide on call services on a 1in 8 rota for both obstetrics and gynecology at RSCH.
Be able to do general gynaecology and operating list independently .
Supervise juniors and medical students.
Active participation in audit, research and quality improvement projects will be encouraged.
Excellent communication skills are essential.

- oFull and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. o If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. o If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- oMRCOG or its recognised equivalent.
- oEvidence of experience in maternal medicine skills (ATSM etc) and cervical scanning and putting in cervical sutures
