Vertis Health is seeking an experienced Adult ASD Assessor to join our growing Neurodevelopmental Services team. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure adults receive timely, accurate assessments and clear clinical outcomes, making a lasting difference to the lives of people across Worcestershire.

Main duties of the job
As an Adult ASD Assessor, you will:

• Deliver structured adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnostic assessments in line with ADOS-aligned best practice.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments that explore developmental history, functional impact, mental health, risk, co-morbidities and presenting concerns.
• Utilise approved assessment tools, collateral information and clinical evidence to support diagnostic decision-making.
• Provide clear verbal feedback, written reports and recommendations following assessment.
• Present complex cases within multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussions and contribute to diagnostic outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records, completing documentation and correspondence in a timely manner.
• Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives, incident reviews and governance activities.
• Support the development, induction and learning of colleagues across the neurodevelopmental service.

Job responsibilities
Vertis Health is seeking an experienced Adult ASD Assessor to join our growing Adult Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Service. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled clinician with experience in adult autism assessment to play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred diagnostic assessments within a clinically led and governance-focused service. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help ensure adults receive timely, accurate assessments and clear clinical outcomes that improve understanding, access to support and overall wellbeing.

Working closely with the Adult ASD Service Lead, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Lead and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will deliver comprehensive autism assessments for adults aged 16 years and over. You will be responsible for gathering developmental histories, exploring functional impact and co-existing conditions, assessing risk where appropriate, and contributing to robust diagnostic decision-making through multidisciplinary discussions. Throughout the pathway, you will ensure patients receive compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming and evidence-based care.

You will contribute to all stages of the diagnostic pathway, including referral review, assessment preparation, face-to-face assessment activity, diagnostic formulation, report writing, feedback appointments and post-diagnostic signposting. The role requires excellent clinical judgement, strong communication skills and the ability to produce clear, high-quality clinical documentation within agreed service standards. You will also maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to the efficient delivery of the service through effective workload management and timely completion of reports and correspondence.

As an experienced clinician, you will actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, presenting complex cases and contributing to collaborative diagnostic decision-making. You will support the maintenance of high clinical standards through involvement in audit, service evaluation, quality improvement initiatives and governance processes. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the development and support of colleagues through teaching, supervision and sharing best practice across the wider neurodevelopmental team.

The successful candidate will bring recent experience of conducting adult ASD assessments within a UK healthcare setting, together with a strong understanding of ADOS-2-informed assessment approaches, safeguarding, risk management and clinical governance. You will be committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based assessments and providing an excellent patient experience. Qualifications
Essential

• HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist or other HCPC-registered clinician with a mental health speciality and adult ASD experience.
• NMC-registered Nurse with adult ASD experience.
• GMC-registered GP with adult ASD experience.

Experience
Essential

• Knowledge of ADOS-2 and current adult autism assessment best practice.
• Understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment and clinical governance requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational and clinic time-management skills.
• Ability to build positive working relationships with patients, families and multidisciplinary colleagues.
