Main duties of the job
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated clinician with dermatology experience to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team providing high-quality dermatological care to patients in the community.

The successful candidate will work alongside and be supported by a team of GPs with a Special Interest in Dermatology (GPwSIs). Clinical supervision and support will be readily available; however, we are looking for an individual who is confident in working independently within their scope of practice, recognises their limitations, and seeks advice appropriately when required.

What We Offer
  • A supportive and friendly working environment
  • Access to experienced GPwSIs in Dermatology for advice and supervision

  • The opportunity to contribute to an innovative and expanding community dermatology service

As an NHS organisation, we are committed to supporting our staff, promoting wellbeing, and fostering an inclusive workplace where all employees are valued and respected.

If you're passionate about making a positive impact on patients' lives and are ready to contribute to a hardworking, collaborative clinical team, we encourage you to apply.

About us
Our ethos is to treat patients as we would expect our family members to be treated. We are proud of our caring and supportive team approach and it is important that the successful applicant fits well within our team.

We pride ourselves on being a modern, forward thinking general practice whilst retaining traditional values.

As Watling Street Practice, our three sites are within Stony Stratford, Great Holm and Shenley Church End. We are part of the Watling Street Primary Care Network and have a community team including nurses, social prescribers and social work assistant supporting our patient populations.

We strive to provide high quality, readily accessible medical and preventative health care within a well organised, efficient, up-to-date, friendly and caring environment.

Scope of Service
The Community Dermatology Service manages a wide range of common dermatological conditions. Please note that patients with suspected or confirmed skin cancers are generally outside the scope of the service and are referred via appropriate secondary care pathways.

Job responsibilities

  • Take relevant clinical histories and perform dermatological examinations
  • Formulate appropriate differential diagnoses and management plans within the scope of the role
  • Provide patient education and advice regarding skin conditions and treatment options
  • Initiate and monitor agreed treatment plans in accordance with local protocols
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records
  • Escalate complex cases appropriately and seek senior clinical input when required.
  • Participate in service development, clinical governance, and audit activities where appropriate

  • Previous experience working in dermatology
  • Ability to assess, diagnose, and manage common dermatological conditions within agreed competencies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while recognising professional limitations
