As a Senior Specialist Substance Misuse Nurse, you will play a key role in providing and supervising high-quality clinical and nursing care to people affected by substance use.

This is a varied role where you'll manage your own caseload while supporting the wider nursing team, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of the service. You'll work closely with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team and external agencies to ensure people receive safe, effective and person-centred care.

Please use the linked job description to support your application.

The closing date for applications is 1st November 2026. Please note that this role may close early should sufficient applications be received, so early application is advised. All applicants should submit a CV along with a cover letter explaining why they would like to be considered for this role.

Main duties of the job
As a Senior Specialist Substance Misuse Nurse, you will provide and supervise the delivery of high standards of clinical and nursing care to people affected by substance use, ensuring practice is evidence-based and in line with the NMC Code and WithYou policies and procedures.

You will provide clinical leadership to nurses and other practitioners within the service, supporting professional standards, clinical supervision, learning and development and the delivery of agreed objectives. You'll also have responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care, managing a caseload and liaising with other agencies where appropriate.

You will support the delivery of health and wellbeing, harm reduction and recovery-focused interventions, including healthcare clinics and therapeutic groups. You'll promote healthy lifestyles and work with clients to reduce health risks associated with substance use, while ensuring medication is safely stored, administered and monitored.

You'll also contribute to service development and quality improvement, helping to identify new solutions and ensure the service remains accessible, culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of the people we support.

Please note that you must have current NMC registration to be considered for this position.

This role is full time and permanent with a salary of £39,000 - £44,990 per annum.
