Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic person looking for a diverse role to join our WSHTB service.

We are looking for someone with good interpersonal and communication skills, good organisational ability, and the ability to work on your own initiative. You will need to enjoy working in a small team and be able to prioritise your own workload and be confident in working with patients with complex and challenging needs. You will need to identify contacts requiring tracing and follow up as per national guidelines.You will need to ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence based policies and procedure so the the patients under our care have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process.

You will need to communicate with the wider community services and provide support and education in accordance with nationally and locally agreed guidelines.

Main duties of the job
The role will be mainly community based, working alongside our specialised TB nurse as part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing high quality TB care in collaboration with other services to provide a seamless service for people receiving TB treatment.

Frequent Travel Essential - You will need to travel, so you must either hold a full, current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

The West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds provides acute and secondary care services (emergency department, maternity and neonatal services, day surgery unit, eye treatment centre, Macmillan unit and children's ward). It has 500+ beds and is a partner teaching hospital of the University of Cambridge.

Adult and paediatric community services, provided in collaboration with West Suffolk Alliance partners, include a range of nursing, therapy, specialist, and ongoing temporary care and rehabilitation, some at our Newmarket Community Hospital.

Education and qualifications
Essential
  • Professional degree or diploma in relevant field
  • Maintains a portfolio of CPD in line with regulatory body standards
  • Appropriate statutory professional body registration NMC/HCPC
  • Must be willing to participate in any relevant training identified to develop skills required to carry out duties

Experience and knowledge
Essential
  • Pre-registration experience in the clinical field or a closely related clinical area
  • Experience of working in an Acute NHS Trust or setting
  • Working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
  • Theoretical and clinical knowledge appropriate to service area and profession
  • Knowledge of Standards of Conduct
  • Knowledge of relevant current issues in health and social care
  • Demonstrates awareness of limits to knowledge base
  • Basic understanding of clinical governance and quality measures

Desirable
  • Working in community or primary care-based teams
  • Experience of facilitating clinical supervision

Skills and abilities
