About Us
Westbury Medical Centre is a friendly, established GP practice in Wood Green, North London, serving approximately 12,000 patients. We pride ourselves on being a traditional yet modern practice with excellent staff retention and a supportive team environment.

We have a strong partnership team working alongside a multidisciplinary clinical team including 2 full-time Partners, salaried GPs, practice nurses, healthcare assistants, clinical pharmacist, physician associates, first contact physiotherapist and a social link prescriber. Our practice consistently achieves high performance metrics and patient satisfaction scores. In line with evolving national guidance, we are currently expanding our GP workforce while maintaining our established high standards of patient care.

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed GP to join our team for 2-4 sessions per week, available on Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Fridays. We are flexible on the pattern and happy to work around the right candidate. We may appoint more than one GP.

This is an excellent opportunity for a GP looking for part-time work with a friendly practice that values its staff and is careful not to overwhelm its clinicians.

What We Offer
Remuneration: £11,000 per session. Flexibility to reward the experience and skills of the successful candidate. Prospective candidates are welcome to contact the Surgery for more information.

Annual leave: Pro rata (6 weeks full-time equivalent)

Indemnity: Provided by CNSGP. GPs provide their own additional MPS cover.

Parking: Can be accommodated but public transport commute preferred

Professional Development Opportunities:

• Dermatology: One GP Partner runs longstanding weekly dermatology GPSI clinics for Haringey practices at Westbury - excellent opportunity for a permanent GP to develop skills in this area
• Substance Misuse: Westbury is a hub site for Haringey Substance Misuse Shared Care service. Three of our GPs are OST prescribers (methadone and buprenorphine) - opportunity for permanent GPs to get involved (would require RCGP Part 1 Substance Misuse certification in due course)
• Medical Student Teaching: We teach medical students from UCL/Royal Free Medical School, with opportunities to get involved
• GP Training: The Surgery recently became an Approved Learning Environment. We do not currently host GP Registrars, but this is a development area for the Surgery and for a permanent GP with an interest in training, it would attract additional remuneration.
• Clinical Supervision: We have an established physician associate team, and our weekly clinical meeting includes supporting and supervising them. A GP with an interest in clinical supervision and education would be well placed to take a role in this, which would attract additional remuneration.
• Leadership Connections: One GP Partner is an Appraiser, the other sits on the Board of Haringey Federation and LMC. In this way, our Surgery is regularly aware of developments in primary care

Session Structure:- Standard session: 4 hours 10 minutes (3.5 hours clinical + 40 mins admin) - 15-minute appointments for face-to-face consultations - 10-minute appointments for telephone consultations - Manageable patient contacts per session (14 face-to-face at 15-minute slots, plus 40 minutes protected admin.) - The existing PA team manage most incoming clinical correspondence (Docman) and most labs, so this will not be required for this role. Home visits are not required. Emis practice with AccuRx and Docman.

Clinical Responsibilities:-

• Face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations with patients presenting with undifferentiated problems - Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions
• We maintain a conservative approach to controlled drug prescribing.
• Be aware of and support where possible practice performance metrics during routine consultations wherever possible, including opportunistic vaccinations, pulse checks and blood pressure checks (NB. there is full range of HCP-led LTC clinics at the Surgery).
• Processing general Surgery lab results, repeat prescriptions and Docman correspondence are not in scope for this role.
• Processing own clinical administration including own referrals.
• Contributing to QOF and enhanced service targets - Participation in practice audits and significant event reviews - Attendance at weekly clinical meetings

Practice Development:
The practice does not currently use the Total Triage model but is monitoring its adoption in other local Surgeries and may transition to it in the future. We will keep all clinical staff informed of any planned changes to our operating model.

Teaching: Our Surgery enjoys supporting and teaching a diverse range of multidisciplinary professionals working in the Surgery, including physician associates, clinical pharmacists, health care assistants, practice nurses, physician associate students (St George's) and medical students (Royal Free/UCL). We are keen to recruit a GP who shares our enthusiasm for a range of teaching activities, including supporting physician associates at the weekly clinical meeting.

Essential Requirements
Essential

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise on the GP Register
• MRCGP
• Certificate of Completion of Training CCT or equivalent
• Inclusion on NHS England Performers List.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

• Experience with EMIS Web - Interest in dermatology, substance misuse, medical education, or digital innovation
