Job summaryApplications are invited for a General Radiologist with specialist interest in Urological Imaging.A full time (10 PA) Consultant post is being advertised. This is a post, approved to meet additional demand. The post is intended to be whole-time, but applications would be considered from candidates wishing for personal or domestic reasons to work part-time.
The successful candidate will join the existing establishment of 21 Consultant Radiologists in providing a comprehensive Radiology service to the population of Herefordshire Health District plus a catchment population from mid Wales and referrals from parts of surrounding counties of Shropshire, Worcestershire and Gwent (total population 230,000).
The post holder should have broad radiology experience with the skills expected from a fully trained and experienced general Radiologist, who will provide high-quality diagnostic imaging and take a role in delivering urology imaging services.
The post holder will be expected to take part in departmental audit and clinical governance issues, provide training and education to medical and other departmental staff as required and participate in Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) Meetings.
The post holder will be required to participate in the on-call rota which is currently 1 in 14.

AAC Date 29 September 2026Main duties of the jobThe job plan and proposed timetable will be organised to meet the needs of the department and will be by mutual agreement. The job plan will be for 10 programmed activities (PA's) to include 1.5 PAs for Core SPA (Appraisal, Revalidation, Job Planning, CPD and Core Department Meetings) plus an additional 1 PA of SPA to develop departmental priorities which can then be normally built into the job plan in subsequent years. Unused SPA time would be expected to be used for direct clinical care.
A degree of flexibility would be expected in relation to the departmental duties, particularly when colleagues are absent on leave to maintain service commitments.
Supporting activity time should be used for teaching, training, education, CPD, audit, appraisal revalidation, administration, research and service development - Evidence will be expected to ensure this time is being used appropriately.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Full GMC Registration
- FRCR or equivalent
- Licence to practice
- On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining Specialist Registration on date of interview
- MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
DesirableTraining and ExperienceEssential- Appropriate training in Radiology.
- Wide experience in all aspects of Radiology.
Desirable- Prior experience in prostate mpMRI, pelvic MRI reporting, or involvement in urology imaging service delivery.
Clinical SkillsEssential- Practical skills commensurate with the above.
