Wakefield Hospice is a local registered charity providing specialist palliative care to people living with life limiting illnesses across Wakefield. The hospice offers symptom management, day therapy, bereavement support and education in a purpose built facility with 16 beds, delivered by expert clinical teams. Core services are free of charge to patients and their families.
The hospice takes a holistic approach, focusing on quality of life for patients whilst supporting families during illness and bereavement. Founded in 1990, it belongs to the local community and costs £11,500 per day to run, funded through donations, fundraising events, retail shops and volunteer support from local people.
