Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our friendly, forward-thinking team at Aspen Medical Practice. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a large, well-established training practice committed to high-quality patient care, clinician wellbeing and professional development.

The successful candidate will benefit from a manageable workload, including 10 face-to-face appointments per session, 15-minute consultations, four protected follow-up telephone appointments and 1 hour 10 minutes of protected administration time per session. Our multidisciplinary team includes Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, Care Co-ordinators, Mental Health Practitioners and an experienced nursing team, ensuring patients are seen by the most appropriate clinician.

This is a permanent role for 4-8 sessions per week. Flexible working will be considered. We are particularly interested in candidates who can work on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. Evening or Saturday Extended Access sessions are welcomed but not essential.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care services to the registered population of Aspen Medical Practice.

Working as part of a large and supportive multidisciplinary team, responsibilities will include:

• Providing routine and urgent GP consultations, including telephone consultations and home visits where appropriate.
• Assessing, diagnosing and managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
• Developing patient-centred management plans in line with current clinical guidance.
• Managing test results, clinical correspondence, prescriptions and other patient-related administration.
• Participating in duty doctor sessions within a structured and supportive Duty Hub model.
• Working collaboratively with pharmacists, nurses, frailty specialists, mental health practitioners, social prescribers and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Contributing to quality improvement, clinical governance and practice development activities.
• Attending practice meetings and Protected Learning Time sessions.

Our appointment model is designed to support safe and sustainable working, with standard face-to-face clinics typically comprising ten 15-minute appointments, four protected follow-up telephone slots and 1 hour 10 minutes of protected administration time per session.

• Deliver comprehensive general medical services to Aspen patients.

• Hold a recognised medical qualification (MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent).
• Hold MRCGP qualification.
• Be fully registered with the GMC and licensed to practise in the UK.
• Have the right to work in the UK or be eligible to obtain permission to work in the UK through employer sponsorship under the Health and Care Worker visa route.
• Demonstrate excellent clinical, communication, and organisational skills.
• Be committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within a multidisciplinary primary care team.

Desirable Criteria
Preference may be given to applicants who:

• Are able to offer either evening or Saturday extended access sessions as part of the role.
• Are proficient in the use of SystmOne.
• Have additional clinical skills or specialist areas of interest that would enhance practice services.
• Have qualified as a GP Trainer.

4. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
The post-holder will:

• Provide routine and urgent GP consultations, including telephone consultations and home visits where required.
• Assess, diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
• Develop and implement patient-centred management plans in line with current clinical guidelines.
• Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with local prescribing guidance.
• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records in line with GMC Good Medical Practice.
• Process prescriptions, clinical correspondence, test results, and associated paperwork in a timely manner in line with Practice administration guidelines.
• Refer patients appropriately to secondary care and community services.
• Support preventative healthcare, health promotion, and chronic disease management.
• Participate in care home and nursing home support where required.
• Provide support, advice and supervision where appropriate to members of the multidisciplinary team, including nurses, pharmacists and non-clinical colleagues.
• Participate in on-call duties in accordance with the Salaried GP Job Plan.
