Person SpecificationQualifications- MRCP or equivalent
- Full GMC registration, and on the specialist register in Dermatology with proven skills and up-to-date experience in acute medicine OR
- Full GMC registration, and within 6 months of specialist registration in Dermatology due to completion of training or within 6 months of specialist registration in Dermatology with proven skills and up-to-date experience in acute medicine due to completion of training, or application via GMC CESR with the submission completed at time of interview in either case.
Skills & Attributes- Willingness and ability to fulfil the key elements of the job description including the shift pattern required.
- Possession of the clinical skills required to perform the job including acute medicine and general internal medicine.
- Ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based Consultant.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual, multi-professional and team basis with all levels of staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively, written and orally.
- Ability and evidence of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to be flexible to meet service demands.
- Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies.
Additional Criteria- Audit: Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit principles
- Research: Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
- Management: Ability to work effectively and constructively with management
- Training and/or evidence in areas such as leadership, planning and change management
- Teaching: Evidence of effective teaching to medical students and doctors in training and to the multidisciplinary team. Ability to present effectively to an audience using a variety of methods.
- Desirable: Evidence of direct involvement in 2 specific medical audits in the last 18 months. Evidence of involvement in a research project. Evidence of formal management training.
Experience- Experience in the management of a broad Acute Medicine caseload.
- Desirable: Current ALS certificate or equivalent. Experience in a specialist interest that will complement those of other staff.
