Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Consultant to take on the role of Clinical Lead for Pre-Hospital Care (HEMS and ECAT) within the Department of Pre-Hospital Care at Barts Health NHS Trust and London's Air Ambulance Charity.
This is a pivotal senior leadership position responsible for the clinical leadership, governance, quality, workforce development and operational readiness of one of the world's leading Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS). Working within the unique partnership between Barts Health NHS Trust, London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance Charity, you will help ensure the delivery of safe, effective and innovative pre-hospital care to London's most seriously injured and critically ill patients.
Main duties of the jobReporting to the Medical Director, London's Air Ambulance, the Clinical Lead will:
- Provide senior clinical leadership across HEMS and ECAT services.
- Lead clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement programmes.
- Support clinical workforce development, training and succession planning.
- Ensure excellence in patient safety, patient outcomes and patient experience.
- Oversee clinical standards, SOPs, competencies and evidence-based practice.
- Support research, innovation and service development.
- Work closely with senior leaders across Barts Health, LAS and London's Air Ambulance.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- GMC registered Consultant with substantive Barts Health appointment.
Desirable- Higher qualifications in leadership, management, education or research.
ExperienceEssential- Significant experience in pre-hospital emergency medicine, trauma care, clinical leadership and governance
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable- Experience within HEMS, critical care retrieval, major trauma systems or equivalent specialist services.
KnowledgeEssential- Knowledge of clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety and risk management frameworks
Desirable- National or international involvement in pre-hospital care development.
SkillsEssential- Excellent leadership, communication, influencing and organisational skills. Ability to manage complexity, risk and competing priorities.
Desirable- Experience representing services at regional or national level.
OtherEssential- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, professional development and multidisciplinary working.
