Job summary
The Education Academy within Bart's Health is expanding in response to the need with increasing numbers of students and trainees and commitment to offer the best educational experience for our trainees. There is a real need to ensure that students receive excellent tuition and that trainees have the best possible educational supervision. In line with our Education Strategy, we intend to improve education by building an Education Fellow faculty base made up of Specialty Teaching Fellows who contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate training and support Inter-professional Innovations.

Barts Health Simulation Service has four dedicated Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Centres based at Newham University Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, St Bartholomew's and the Royal London. Each of these centres has a proud history of being innovative and award winning. These departments are teaching areas with fully equipped simulation and clinical skills teaching and Haptic Clinical Skills facilities.

Main duties of the job
The post will be based at the Royal London Hospital with teaching commitments across sites. The clinical component is working within the Older People Service (geriatrics) department working as a registrar in Trauma and Perioperative Older People Service (TPOPS). The Royal London Hospital is a major trauma centre and site for major complex surgery. TPOPS provides liaison support for Older People admitted under trauma and surgical teams. There is opportunity for outpatient pre-operative clinical assessments of patients with complexity undergoing elective surgery and participation in a weekly high risk anaesthetic multidisciplinary meeting.

  • Clinical background of either GIM/ Acute Medicine
  • Previous experience in delivering education, ideally in an interprofessional setting
